PHOTO 46 -- Flight B-8 : August 23, 1972

This rather handsome rocket had a length of 45 inches (114 cm.) and a pre-launch weight of 6½ lbs (3 kg.).
The upper fuselage consisted of a length of 3½ inch (9 cm.) diameter PVC "sewer pipe". The nosecone was fabricated from fibreglass reinforced polyester, stiffened internally with aluminum discs, and was extremely lightweight and strong. The coupler, which connected the upper and lower fuselage sections, was made (on a wood lathe) of birch hardwood. The lower fuselage and fins were constructed of aluminum and the motor (D-II) was made entirely from steel.
Quite a mosaic of different materials!
